Cincinnati has been graced with some pretty awesome weather these last few days. Boy did the folks at Project Space need it. We've been cook'n on some great ideas for simple quick creative projects ( Start to finish in 4 hours). We'll get to those more in depth in a later post.
For now we decided to get our planting on. A desire one of our members has had for some time was to have a little container garden. We suggested she start small with a few items. Deciding on Pole Green Beans, Cilantro, and Jalapenos we got to work planting our seeds in modest containers left over from other plants. To solve the "how to I label my seeds" dilemma we came up with a awesome mother nature recycle/ re purposing solution.
Remember the focus has been a complete project from start to finish in under 4 hours... This little ditty from planting to carving our plant markers and clean up....1 hour.
Tools:
Sticks: (Look for ones that could have also been good contenders for marshmallow
roasting)
Matt Knife ( Used for carving/shaving the wood)
Sharpie Marker: (Ultra Thin for writing)
To make your own plant markers first you need to find some good ol' fashion sticks. Use your best judgement for how long your markers should be.
Step 1: Find sticks
Step 2: Grab your trusty matte knife and carve away from you just enough to create a flat surface long enough to write the name of your plant on.
Step 3: Once you have shaved away enough of the stick to create a flat surface grab your sharpie marker and write out the name of your newly planted seeds.
BOOM- you are finished with the project. We weren't making it up when we said this was easy.
Check the results at our handy work.
